The Folklore Society of Greater Washington publishes a 24- page monthly Newsletter, which is mailed to FSGW Members and is also available on-line through the Member Page. The Newsletter features information about upcoming FSGW events plus short descriptions of concerts, dances, jams, workshops, and other events relevant to FSGW’s purpose and of interest to FSGW Members. Members, please note that if you fail to receive your Newsletter, you should contact the Membership Chair Membership to report the missing copy. Contact the Newsletter Editor only if your question concerns submitting copy for publication.

Current Articles

All copy for the Newsletter must be received by the Editor by 9 pm on the 10th day of the preceding month (e.g., October 10th for the November issue).

Here are the guidelines for submitting copy:

  • All submissions are subject to space availability. Listings may be submitted more than one month in advance, particularly listings for weekends, festivals, and workshops requiring advance registration.
  • Copy will not be accepted over the telephone.
  • Copy should be sent by email to News (at) fsgw.org. Type your text (or copy and paste) directly into the body of the email. Do not send attachments. Please use capital letters, tabs, bold and italics sparingly. Please type telephone numbers using periods, not hyphens, as separators.
  • If possible, please include a contact name, telephone number, and email address for publication so that Members can get additional information about your event.
  • If the Editor has questions about your submission, contact will be by email.
  • Edit your copy into the following format:

Friday, Octember 13, 1066 * 2 am - 2:15 am
